Japanese rising star Miyoshi Ayaka transforms into a key figure who designs the biggest game in the series in her first Korean film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub.
The film Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub (director Choi Guk-hee) is a crime movie in which Jang Tae-young (Byun Yo-Han), who seemed to have everything from his online Big Bet business, and another Jang Tae-young, Park Tae-young (Roh Jae Won), who stole everything from him, meet again on the global gambling scene and engage in a high-stakes revenge match.
As the final story in Huh Young-man's original comic series, which will depict a larger game spanning Korea, Japan and Vietnam, Japanese actress Miyoshi Ayaka draws attention by appearing in a Korean film for the first time.
Miyoshi Ayaka plays Kaneko, the head of a Japanese corporation backed by a yakuza organization. Kaneko is the person who shows interest in and offers investment in the online Big Bet business built by Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young. Later she directly designs a massive gambling game involving magnates from Japan and Vietnam and stands at the center of the incident.
Beneath her soft, calm demeanor, Kaneko hides a chilling calculation and is expected to grab and shake the flow of the game, adding tension to the film. Miyoshi Ayaka delicately portrays Kaneko's dual nature—seductive yet guarded—continuing the Tazza series' line of powerful female characters.
Previously, Kim Hye-soo of Tazza and Shin Se-kyung of Tazza: The Hand of God left strong impressions with female characters of different charms, and the Kaneko that Miyoshi Ayaka will present is expected to show another presence in the series' final installment.
In the released character stills, Kaneko's gaze, as if piercing the whole game from the middle of where the match is being held, was captured. Her upright posture and alluring atmosphere, coupled with an expression that makes her emotions hard to read, fully convey Kaneko's chilling charisma.
Even in on-set stills, Miyoshi Ayaka's serious attitude toward her first Korean film draws attention. Director Choi Guk-hee decided to cast Miyoshi Ayaka after noting her exotic atmosphere and strong presence shown in the Netflix series Alice in Borderland season 2.
Miyoshi Ayaka also immersed herself deeply in the character, even learning poker herself to complete the role of Kaneko. She actively communicated for the production, conducting readings with Roh Jae Won, who took on Japanese lines, and carefully refining even the line endings.
Miyoshi Ayaka, reflecting on finishing her first Korean film shoot, said, I was treated not as a foreign actor but as an actor. Looking back now that the work is over, there was not a single day when I wanted to run away, showing her special affection for the film and the set.
Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub completes a powerful ensemble with Byun Yo-Han, Roh Jae Won, Miyoshi Ayaka, Jo Woo-jin, Yoon Kyung-ho, Ihara Tsuyoshi, Hong Dao, Kim Min-ho, Lim Se-mi, Moon ji-hoon and others against the backdrop of a larger global gambling scene than previous series entries.
Questions grow about what kind of ending the revenge story of Jang Tae-young and Park Tae-young will meet, and what Kaneko's real purpose is in drawing them into the huge game.
Meanwhile, the final story of the Tazza series, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub, which expands the game across Korea, Japan and Vietnam, is scheduled to be released this Chuseok.
