Ahn Sun-young shared the heartbreaking recent condition of her mother, who is suffering from dementia.
On the afternoon of the 13th, the YouTube channel 'Ahn Sun-young's double life' posted a video titled 'A day with my mother who became a child at 78: Ahn Sun-young takes her dementia-stricken mother to a hospital appointment.'
Ahn Sun-young visited the hospital to take her mother for an outpatient appointment. Ahn Sun-young opened up, saying, "Just coming to the hospital makes me kind of depressed. There aren't any good memories from the hospital, you know."
She continued, "It was the same when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it was the same when she collapsed from a stroke and I came here crying my eyes out. And when she collapsed from a stroke, had surgery and was hospitalized for a month, my mother's condition was really bad then," she recalled.
She added, "Every time we come, I always leave crying. Even now, my mother looks fine to others, but her cognitive impairment is quite severe. The doctor in charge just said that she is already taking the medication at the highest dosage. There's nowhere else to go."
She also described her mother's everyday symptoms. Ahn Sun-young explained, "But she seems a little more slow. She seems to have trouble finding rooms and things like that. There was even a major issue like an extraction, but she forgot it within five minutes and tore at the stitches with her hands until they bled and all that, I mentioned that."
She candidly expressed her feelings, saying, "She's already on the maximum (dosage) and it can't be increased any further. Anyway, I feel down."
