Mnet 'Street World Fighter: Director's War' will meet viewers around the world beyond Korea.
Mnet announced that 'Street World Fighter: Director's War' (hereafter "SWD"), which premieres on the 18th, will be released in various countries and regions around the world through major global OTT platforms.
"SWD" will be released sequentially on global platforms such as Viu, iQIYI and FPT Play after its domestic broadcast. It is expected to reach viewers across a wide range of regions, including Southeast Asia—Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam—as well as the Middle East, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Maldives.
In particular, in Japan it will air simultaneously with Korea through the local leading OTT platform ABEMA. Like domestic viewers, fans in Japan will be able to enjoy SWD's fierce competition and spectacular performances in real time from the first broadcast.
Major markets such as North America and Europe will also be able to watch "SWD." In the United States and Canada it will be available through Apple TV, and in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands it will be available on demand through Amazon Prime Video. In Russia it can be viewed through the local platform IVI.
By expanding its release to major global markets including Japan, North America, Europe and Russia, "SWD" is expected to extend its reach to fans around the world beyond Korea and continue the global influence of K-dance content.
Live streaming will also be available through global K-pop content platform Mnet Plus. Viewers around the world will be able to watch "SWD" live on Mnet Plus, and a multilingual subtitle service using AI-based technology will also be provided.
Subtitles will be supported in five languages—Korean, English, Japanese, simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese—to improve viewing convenience for overseas fans. This lowers language barriers so global viewers can enjoy the program's competition and performances more vividly.
"SWD" is a new extension of Mnet's street dance series that sparked a dance craze in Korea, starting with "Street Woman Fighter."
This time, beyond competition among female dancers, the protagonists are 10 choreographers who dream of becoming "performance directors" who plan and direct stages. They will wage intense battles over their works to put their names on the "director credit," offering a different kind of fun from the existing Street series.
