"The office" actor "Lucy" Davis said she was diagnosed with incurable cancer.
On the 12th (local time), U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six reported that the British comedian and actor "Lucy" Davis was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that cannot be cured.
Davis posted a long message on her social media that day, saying, "I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer 1½ years ago. The cancer has spread to the bones, specifically to the spine, the right hip joint and the ribs. This cancer cannot be cured, and it is too late for chemotherapy."
She continued, "What I first felt was not strictly a lump. It felt like a kind of hard area. It was really very small. So I almost didn't even consider getting it checked. So what I want to say is don't just ignore anything. Please get anything checked."
Davis said, "I don't know how much life I have left, but I intend to live as much fun as possible. I like to find lessons to learn even when bad things happen. And cancer hasn't disappointed me in that respect. I've learned so much from this experience, and I'm grateful for that."
She added, "As some of you may know, there are times when the pain is really extraordinary. Standing or walking for long periods can be difficult, and sometimes I have to use a wheelchair," and frankly said, "What has mattered most to me is humor. I asked my friends and family to tease me as much as possible. And above all, I asked them not to treat me like a sick person. Nothing makes you feel more sick than being treated like a sick person."
Davis wrote, "Whatever happens next, I'm not afraid. I have accepted it and am at peace. I will probably meet my Gracie, who passed away, sooner than expected. For me, leaving the body is just going home. The ones who will have to go through the grief are entirely my family. It will be much harder for them than for me."
She also wrote, "I will continue all the animal rights work I have been doing. It is something very important to me. And I want to continue working. I can work enough, and acting is one of the greatest joys of my life," and concluded, "To those walking a similar journey to mine, I truly hope you get through it. Cancer demands a lot from us physically and mentally. And we can all get through that journey in our own ways."
Colleagues left supportive comments on Lucy Davis's confession. British broadcaster Pierce Morgan wrote, "This is truly shocking news. I am so sorry. Your courage in speaking so openly seems to say everything about what kind of person you are. Sending love and support to you and your family."
Lucy Davis played receptionist Dawn Tinsley in season 1 and season 1 of the drama "The Office" and appeared in films such as "Garfield 2" and "Wonder Woman."
