Singer John Park talked about South Korean society's strict standards.
John Park recently shared his thoughts on life standards in Korean society and his own outlook on life in a video titled "Honorary Brit speaking in British English | John Park's small talk" released on his YouTube channel 'John? or Park?'.
The video features 'honorary Brit' Baek Jin-kyung and John Park engaging in small talk in English. While continuing the small talk, John Park asked, "Everyone has a fantasy of wanting to live in a different city, so if you could give one piece of advice to those people, what would it be?"
In response, Baek Jin-kyung began, "In Korea there seems to be a strict standard that by around age 30 you should have this level of money, be married, have children and live a stable life." John Park agreed, saying, "That's right."
Baek Jin-kyung said, "If you go abroad you see that that's all nonsense. Even in your 40s or 50s people do different things than before, quit stable jobs and try something else; there aren't really fixed standards." John Park chimed in, "That's right. (Abroad and Korea) are completely different."
Baek Jin-kyung advised, "What I want to say is don't be afraid. So if you go out even once you'll see a completely different world." John Park agreed, saying, "Life isn't just one path," and, "It's good to have diverse perspectives."
