'Take a Hike!' Car, the garden confessed that he was deceived when he appeared on PD Na Young-seok's variety show.
On the morning of the 12th at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for Netflix's new variety show 'Take a Hike!'. PD Na Young-seok, PD Park Hyun-yong, singer Car, the garden, DAY6's Dowoon, actor Lee Chae-min, and ALLDAY PROJECT's Tarzan attended the event.
'Take a Hike!' is a hiking variety show in which four involuntary hikers, who had no interest in hiking their entire lives, set out on their first-ever midwinter snow mountain trek and experience the events that unfold. As viewers meet a midwinter snowy mountain landscape in the middle of summer to prepare to blow away the heat, the beginners' journey to find the answer to the question 'Take a Hike!' will capture genuine moments amid joyful laughter. The chemistry of the 'top four' who formed a special mountaineering club—Car, the garden; Dowoon of DAY6; Lee Chae-min; and ALLDAY PROJECT's Tarzan—is also highly anticipated.
PD Park Hyun-yong explained the reason for choosing hiking as the subject: "Writer Lee Woo-jung's hobby is hiking, but PD Na Young-seok and I dislike hiking. We had no hobby of hiking, but were led by writer Lee Woo-jung and went a few times. I didn't want to, but after going I had a lot to talk about. I wondered, 'If people who dislike hiking try it, won't they become closer and suddenly get friendly?'" He added, "Actually, we didn't tell these people about hiking when recruiting them. When they actually came, they had to do hiking they didn't want to, so it must have been very hard. It must have been really hard," revealing behind-the-scenes details of the casting.
Car, the garden confessed with a laugh, "When they first suggested hiking, I thought it was ridiculous, and I wondered, 'If I quit, how badly will rumors spread... will that be okay for me?' When I first heard it and actually had to hike, I was so embarrassed."
MC Park Kyung-rim said, "But outwardly you look like someone from a Himalayan expedition or someone who has completed a climb," and Car, the garden replied, "I want to be seen that way, but I wanted to look like a mountaineer without actually hiking."
Dowoon said, "When I first heard it, I felt like I had fallen for an employment scam. I thought, 'If Car, the garden hyung quits, I'll follow...' but he steadfastly went on, so I was disappointed," prompting laughs. Car, the garden laughed, saying, "If I were DAY6, I would have quit."
At the press conference, Car, the garden amused the audience with dazed or blank expressions, and said, "I'm a victim, and it's not pleasant to keep talking about the harm done to me," adding, "When I climbed the mountain, all I could think was that I wanted to go down." PD Park Hyun-yong added, "I was worried they might quit halfway, but their sense of responsibility until the end was a twist."
Meanwhile, 'Take a Hike!' is a 10-episode series and will be released on the 18th.
