ENHYPEN introduces a fully matured vampire narrative.
ENHYPEN (Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Ni-ki) has steadily built a dark fantasy narrative since their 2020 debut album 'BORDER : DAY ONE.' Rather than a simple concept, they established the group's identity by intricately applying vampire codes across music, visuals, performance and album planning.
ENHYPEN's narrative grew through attempts to vary the vampire theme each time. While the early vampire narrative served as a device to metaphorically portray the boys' identities and growth, starting with the 'BLOOD' series they became beloved for sometimes intuitively singing about blind love and other times about intense desire.
The new album 'THE SIN : BLISS' also contains a distinctive change. While continuing the story of vampires fleeing from love, it adds a different texture to the emotions within, conveying a more positive atmosphere amid a perilous journey.
In particular, this narrative did not stop at music and performance. Representative examples include the 'concept cinema' video, like a film, the 'romance house' that realized the album narrative offline, and the vampire society's fictional news outlet 'Vampire Now.'
Also, the blood donation campaign held earlier this year to mark the release of mini album 7 'THE SIN : VANISH' was an interactive project that cleverly reflected the vampire characteristic of bloodsucking.
This album also continues development in such promotions. From the 13th through Sept. 27, a music experience exhibition 'House of Vampire ~Dive into ENHYPEN Chronicle~' will be held at Ara Art Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The exhibition is based on the concept that visitors who receive an invitation setting them as kin of ENHYPEN enter a vampire mansion to enjoy the experience, and 'Vampire Now' continues to provide fans with enjoyment through articles that cross reality and fiction.
As ENHYPEN's vampire narrative evolves each time and members grow within these variations, fans' immersion has steadily increased. Beyond a simple concept, ENHYPEN's perseverance over six years has quietly become the group's identity, and anticipation is building for another distinctive evolution to be shown through mini album 8 'THE SIN : BLISS'.<
