Hive media corp, which opened a new horizon for modern and contemporary historical films in Korea with the films Director General of Namsan and 12.12: The Day, is returning to theaters this Chuseok with another masterpiece.
According to the production company Hive media corp on the 12th, director Heo Jin-ho directed and Yoo Hai Jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Minho star in the new film Assassin(s), which is confirmed to be released in theaters this Chuseok.
Assassin(s) tracks the hidden suspicions and backers of the first lady shooting incident that shocked Korea on Aug. 15, 1974, following the perspectives of a detective and a reporter. It is a work that draws the grand starting point of Hive media corp's modern history universe, which followed 12.12: The Day, which attracted 13 million viewers, and Director General of Namsan, which delivered overwhelming immersion.
The film relentlessly traces the side of the 1974 incident that everyone thought they knew but that still leaves many questions, through the eyes of a detective and a reporter. Director Heo Jin-ho, recognized for his delicate and deep directing in works such as The Last Princess and A Normal Family, took the helm and added his characteristic dense detail and suspense to the real-life–inspired narrative.
Leading a team that includes cinematographer Lee Mo-gae from 12.12: The Day, Exhuma, and Hunt, along with production designer Kim Byung-han, lighting director Lee Seong-hwan, VFX supervisor Chung Jae-hoon, and costume director Choi Yoon-seon, Korea's veteran production team all came together to perfectly recreate the air and texture of that day in 1974 on screen.
