Singer Soyou said she was able to get help buying a new home with the profits from Samsung Electronics and SK hynix shares she invested in 10 years ago.
Soyou revealed her new home, which she moved into for the first time in six years, in a video posted on her YouTube channel "Soyougi" on the 10th. The home was fully remodeled and includes a private sauna, a gym, a studio, and a dressing room.
In particular, Soyou said the stocks she invested in during the moving process were a big help. Soyou said, "About 10 years ago, thinking I should study stocks, I put about 100 million won into Samsung Electronics and SK hynix shares," and added, "When it was time to move, my mother brought up the stocks, and thanks to these profits, I was able to move into a new home."
Since Soyou invested, the share prices of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix have risen sharply. About 10 years ago, Samsung Electronics traded around 30,000 won per share, but the closing price on the 10th rose to 231,500 won. SK hynix also climbed from the 25,000-won range at the time to the 1.4 million-won range recently.
However, Soyou did not disclose specific investment details, such as how much she invested in each of the two stocks or how many shares she still holds.
Soyou also expressed satisfaction with the new home. Soyou said, "Thinking it's my own home puts me at ease," and added, "What I couldn't achieve in the previous home, I feel like I'm enjoying here as I spread my wings of dreams."
The new home includes a gym for workouts and a private sauna. Regarding the sauna, Soyou said, "The satisfaction level is very high," and introduced it by saying, "The scent of hinoki fills the room." The kitchen and studio were also decorated to her taste.
Soyou debuted in 2010 with the group Sistar and has since been active as a solo singer. Recently, through the YouTube channel "Soyougi," Soyou has been sharing content on daily life, personal finance, and exercise.
