Actress Lee Ji-hyun, formerly of Jewelry, confessed she was ill during her second divorce.
On the 11th, a video titled "From first-generation leading girl group member to a Christian who cries out, 'Lord!'" was uploaded to the CGN channel.
In the video, Lee Ji-hyun appeared as a guest on episode 43 of 'THE NEW HaneulbitHyangi' and shared her story. When asked whether she had ever been sick while raising her children, she recalled, "I was very sick. When the children were young, during the second divorce, I think I was at my worst."
She said, "There was no answer by human means. Before the second divorce I tried this and tried that. At that time God, at first I didn't know, stopped me. Panic disorder came and maybe he thought I wouldn't stop because of the panic disorder. Then, something uncommon these days, he also gave me a disease called tuberculosis," she revealed, causing surprise.
Lee Ji-hyun said, "My life completely collapsed. I couldn't take a single step out of bed," and added, "Tuberculosis treatment is actually very hard. It's not as bad as chemotherapy, but the medicine is so toxic that my body couldn't handle it and mentally I felt like if I left the house something terrible would happen, so there was a year when I stayed at home cooking only for the children and lived like that," conveying how physically and mentally difficult it was.
She said she relied heavily on religion at that time and recalled, "I studied the Bible a lot by myself, starting from what my sins were and how to live according to the Scriptures. Even though the children were young, we praised and studied the Word together. Although I was very sick, it was a precious time."
Meanwhile, Lee Ji-hyun married a non-celebrity seven years older than her in 2013 and had one son and one daughter, but they divorced by mutual consent in 2016. The following year she remarried an ophthalmologist, but after a second divorce in 2020 she is now raising the two children alone and working at a hair salon.
