Actor Byun Yo-Han delivers a shocking visual.
Byun Yo-Han plays the mysterious Baek Sang-hyun in the film "Gyeongju trip," which opens on the 26th (written and directed by Kim Mi-jo, provided by Lotte Entertainment·Michigan Venture Capital Co., Ltd., distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Studio HiFive, co-produced by Euphoria ENT).
"Gyeongju trip" is a family revenge drama about four mothers and daughters who, for the youngest daughter Gyeongju who never returned from a school trip, after eight years of waiting embark on a "killer" journey. Baek Sang-hyun is the person who took the youngest Gyeongju from Ok-sil (played by Lee Jung-eun)'s family. Baek Sung-hyeon is kidnapped by the four mothers and daughters while asleep from an anesthetic immediately after completing an eight-year prison term.
Byun Yo-Han showed a shocking visual by sporting messy hair, a shaggy beard, rough skin and personally wearing a mouthpiece to discolor his teeth to convey Baek Sang-hyun's chilling features. He even studied the walk and eye movements to make audiences forget the previous Byun Yo-Han.
In particular, it was reported that Byun Yo-Han participated in "Gyeongju trip" without a fee, which surprised many. He said he was naturally drawn to the project because the PD of his first commercial film, "Will you be there?" was producing it, and the screenplay was really good. He noted it was meaningful to be able to work with senior and junior actors including senior Lee Jung-eun, and he wanted to lend a hand even a little, which is why he participated without a fee.
Byun Yo-Han said, "Because this character's actions lack plausibility or feelings of compassion, I could rather boldly throw myself into the performance," and added, "I thought the more pain I felt, the more fear and tension the audience would feel," raising expectations for the film.
Director Kim Mi-jo, who directed the film, praised, "The moment I heard actor Byun Yo-Han's name, it felt as if a light suddenly turned on in my head," and called him a "professional actor who captured hidden contexts beyond the script that I had not thought of and drew them out beyond the screen."
