Miyeon of the group (G)I-DLE released her first Japanese solo song since debut.
Miyeon released her first Japanese digital single RUN AWAY to the public at 12 a.m. on the 10th through major domestic and international music platforms. The new song RUN AWAY is a track built on a dynamic rock band sound base combined with Miyeon's distinctive powerful and refreshing vocals. As the song heads into the latter part, the explosive high notes and the delicately layered arrangement are impressive, and particularly Miyeon participated directly in the lyric writing, infusing her own clear artistic color as an artist.
In the music video, which was unveiled at the same time as the single, Miyeon transformed into a fresh rock star. With a wide sea as the backdrop she plays guitar and radiates positive energy, and in many crowded spots across central Tokyo she runs vigorously, maximizing visual freshness.
Having recently successfully wrapped up activities for (G)I-DLE's ninth mini album We made, Miyeon expressed her aspirations for solo activities through a Q&A with her agency.

Q. How do you feel about releasing your first Japanese digital single RUN AWAY?
As a digital single marking my Japanese solo debut, I'm very excited and I hope many people will like it. The weather has been very hot lately and people must be tired, and since this song suits the summer well I hope it gives people strength.
Q. Recently you showed a mature adult sexy concept in group activities. What new side did you want to show in this solo song?
For this solo song I wanted to prepare comfortable music. I wanted to make a song that could give me energy with a lighter heart, so I participated in writing the lyrics myself.
Q. You transformed into a refreshing rock star in RUN AWAY. What listening points did you personally pick for this song?
It's refreshing and bright and unusually high in pitch, so I think many people will feel a sense of coolness. It seems to be the most exciting music among my solo songs released so far.
Q. You filmed the music video with many people across central Tokyo. Any memorable episodes during filming?
There were many running scenes in the music video. Running through many parts of central Tokyo relieved stress and gave me a sense of liberation. Also, many of the actors who filmed with me played the role of comic relief well, so we had fun filming and I hope people pay attention to that part as well.
Q. The new song RUN AWAY has a bright, refreshing sound that suits midsummer. At what moments is this song best listened to?
At first the song has a bright, refreshing atmosphere, but I wrote the lyrics to capture the feeling of shouting GO! or Let's do it!, without hesitating or being constrained by anything. I think it's good to listen to when you want to gain strength in moments when you're tired or worried.
Q. Please say a word to the fans who have long waited for your Japanese solo song.
I had actually been preparing it for a long time, but I kept it hidden because I wanted it to be a surprise gift for Neverland (the fandom name). I hope this song gives strength during the hot summer, and I hope there will be more opportunities to meet Japan's Neverland more often. Please give RUN AWAY lots of love!
