Resenne's Woni and Jena traveled to Jena's hometown, Gyeongju, and shared an anecdote about failing to diet early in their debut.
On the 7th, the YouTube channel helloiamwoninicetomeetyou posted a video titled "an idol who came up from Gyeongju."
That day, Resenne's Woni and Jena met in the early dawn and took a train to Jena's hometown, Gyeongju.
Jena became a trainee of The Muse in the third year of middle school and said she commuted between Gyeongju and Seoul every weekend for eight months until her first year of high school. Jena said, "(When I was a trainee) I took it every week. I'm an expert."
The production team suggested, "Shall we sleep for about an hour?" to accommodate Resenne's busy schedule. The two said, "We could pass out immediately," covered themselves with a blanket and fell asleep at once.
After waking up, the two revealed the anecdote of their first meeting. Woni recalled, "I knew the kids who were preparing to be idols. She was coming to our company. So she came on the first day. Because I had to get close, I took her to a kimbap shop, sat her down and told her to eat what she wanted."
She continued, "But she didn't speak. She didn't say a single word. I kept talking and tried to get close on purpose, but I did everything for her and later I saw her crying. She missed her mother," she confessed. Jena, who was in third year of middle school at the time, said, "Everything felt so sad."
Jena said she attended school in Gyeongju on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and practiced in Seoul on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, adding, "The time I went down to Gyeongju on Sunday evenings was the happiest." When asked why, Woni explained, "Because we measured our weight every day Monday through Friday. Since we could go home, we could secretly eat and come back."
Jena said, "I hated coming up to Seoul because of the weigh-ins. As soon as we arrived at the company, we always measured our weight." The production team could not finish the sentence, saying, "You managed your weight a lot, so why do you look like this in the debut-era video?"
In the debut-era video, Resenne showed a chubbier appearance than now. In the comments, people actually wrote, "They all look round," and "plump babies." Woni confessed, "It was a failed diet. It couldn't be undone then. The debut was literally the next day but the kids had gained weight."
Woni said when comparing the debut era to now, "There's an 8kg difference. But the unbelievable thing is Minami would have a 20-some kilogram difference," and added, "She had stress-induced binge eating. After debuting, when each of them was mentally struggling, they all ate. There were no days off, so eating was the only way to cope," she recounted.
