The group Monsta X (MONSTA X) raised anticipation for their comeback by unveiling a new album tracklist that reflects their diverse in-house production capabilities.
Starship Entertainment uploaded a tracklist video for the new mini album The Phase, set to be released on Sept. 4, to its official social media channels on the 9th. The video captured attention with sensory direction showing exercise equipment parts being disassembled and then robustly reassembled.
According to the tracklist, the album contains a total of six diverse tracks, led by the title song MAGIC, including Type X, SURVIVOR, Electric Heart, That's My Girl and Sweet Night, Sweet Morning.
Above all, the members' high level of involvement in the album stands out. Joohoney is credited with writing and composing four tracks, including the title song, and also handled the arrangements for SURVIVOR and Electric Heart, raising the work's completeness. Hyungwon also included his self-composed song Sweet Night, Sweet Morning, once again showcasing the producing ability he has consistently proven.
After Joohoney's solo debut earlier this year, Monsta X expanded each member's spectrum through individual activities such as the Shownu X Hyungwon unit and solo projects by Minhyuk and Kihyun, and they are expected to reunite as a full group to demonstrate powerful synergy.
Marking their 11th year since debut, their new album The Phase is the result of adding a more refined sound and witty concept to the group's existing identity. Monsta X's new chapter, in which they continually seek change instead of settling for the present, can be experienced on Sept. 4.
