KBS 2TV weekend drama 'Love On The Menu' has shattered its highest ratings.
According to ratings tracker Nielsen Korea on the 9th, the 5th episode of 'Love On The Menu,' which aired at 8 p.m. the previous day (the 8th), recorded 14.1% nationwide households, breaking its own record once again.
In that episode, Kim Mujin (Ha Seok-jin) reunited with Han Gyurim (Ahn Heeyeon) after eight years and was shown struggling in shock and misunderstanding. When Gyurim's son Hangyeol (Yoon Habin) ran to her and Cho Heungsik (Bae Jung-nam) appeared, Mujin misunderstood the three as one family and fell into a meltdown. In a fit of anger he even put up a 'couples prohibited' sign at the restaurant entrance, and as he calculated when he and Gyurim had parted, his suspicions grew.
The Han household also faced one crisis after another. Han Gyuyoung (Park Yuna) lied to her prospective in-laws, saying, "my parents are dead," claiming to be an orphan, and then made the absurd request that Jang Huntae (Kwon Hae-hyo) act as her fake father at the formal meeting. At the meeting, Gyurim's heart sank heavily after witnessing her sister's cruel lie and the hurt it caused.
At the end of the broadcast, the drama's tension reached a peak. Hangyeol, who went to see Mujin alone, attracted attention by being strikingly similar to Mujin in everything from hamburger preferences to appetite. When Gyurim, who arrived late, tried to leave with Gyeori, Mujin blocked them and asked the heavy, blunt question, "Is Gyeori possibly my son?", delivering a chilling shock to the living room audience.
Immediately after the broadcast, viewers flooded reactions such as "the pace of development was insane," "it felt so refreshing when they dropped a blunt question at the end," "Hangyeol having the same appetite is cute," and "Gyuyoung shows signs of a fraudulent marriage."
