Hangout With Yoo has shown rising ratings for four consecutive weeks, firmly maintaining its No. 1 spot among Saturday variety shows and its time slot.
According to TV ratings firm Nielsen Korea on the 9th, the MBC program Hangout With Yoo, which aired on the 8th, recorded a nationwide rating of 4.7%. This is a 0.5 percentage point increase from the 4.2% recorded by episode 340, which aired on the 1st.
Since episode 338 (3.6%), which aired on the 18th of last month, Hangout With Yoo has seen ratings steadily rise for four consecutive weeks and claimed the No. 1 spot in its time slot. The key channel competitiveness metric reflecting changes in media consumption, the 2054 rating, recorded 2.8%, maintaining its throne as the Saturday variety king. The top-rated one minute was when Yu Jae-seok broke his "cost-effectiveness principle" and tasted the extravagant dish prepared by chef Jung Ji-seon, with the minute peak rating rising to 6%.
That episode was staged as the "summer welcome rest, Pyo club" segment featuring Yu Jae-seok (pulmonary organ), HaHa (old mixed kimchi), Heo Kyunghwan (cold sweat), Ju Woo-jae (Lee Yoon-seok), and Jung jun-ha (Gangnam Station Byeon Woo-seok).
Chief Yu Jae-seok said he had prepared a full summer course to beat the heat and led the "rest, Pyo club" members. But the hot weather steadily raised the members' discomfort levels, and outrage exploded when they learned the first course was a novelty ice cream shop rather than a restaurant. Even so, thrifty Yu Jae-seok decided on the "scorching sun ice cream trip" after hearing that takeout was 6,000 won cheaper, which further inflamed public sentiment.
After receiving the complaints, Yu Jae-seok headed to a novelty space with an ice room for the second course, and the members repented while receiving the "ice therapy" Yu Jae-seok had prepared.
In particular, the final course that Yu Jae-seok had boasted about featured an extravagant dish by chef Jung Ji-seon, the "queen of Chinese cuisine." Members who had chased only cost-effectiveness united in this unusual luxury. Ju Woo-jae, who had been watching Yu Jae-seok while calculating the remaining funds, was satisfied, and Heo Kyunghwan showed he was moved by bowing deeply to Yu Jae-seok. Jung jun-ha, overjoyed, patted Yu Jae-seok on the shoulder, and a resentful Yu Jae-seok hinted at adding assault charges to the insult charge, bringing laughter.
Meanwhile, Jung jun-ha raised suspicions that Yu Jae-seok had not paid chef Jung Ji-seon, whom he had brought in through personal connections. When chef Jung Ji-seon replied that she had not received payment, the members were engulfed in a sense of betrayal. Ultimately, the episode ended with Yu Jae-seok's "embezzlement ending," closing that day's Hangout With Yoo.
