Comedian Mija said she has been struggling with pet loss syndrome since losing her pet dog.
On the 8th, Mija posted on her social media, "Today, Aug. 8, it has been exactly one year since Sunchil left.. My heart felt so strange for a few days, and I have been crying nonstop since this morning. I miss you so much," along with photos.
The released photo was from about a year ago, showing Mija's dog Sunchil after being diagnosed with intestinal obstruction and undergoing surgery at a hospital, but suddenly crossing the rainbow bridge, capturing the family in grief.
Mija said, "I wasn't myself for two to three months, and I cried a lot even up to 10 months. I still can't believe a year has passed; it still feels like yesterday and our Chilli lives deep in my heart. I was so devastated that at one point I tried to delete all the photos, but thankfully I didn't delete a single one and endured," noting that she is still struggling with pet loss syndrome.
Mija said, "I miss him so much. Not for a month, even if only for just one day," expressing continued longing for her pet. Fans also shared their own experiences and sympathized with Mija, mourning together.
Pet loss syndrome refers to the psychological pain and grief experienced after a companion animal that was like family dies. Bae Jung-nam, Ku Sung-hwan, and Lee Ju-seung, among others, have experienced this syndrome and went through very difficult times.
Meanwhile, Mija married comedian Kim Tae-hyun in 2022.
