Comedian O Ji-heon revealed a childhood that was wealthy enough to make others envious and the family history behind it.
On the 9th broadcast of MBN's overcoming story "While you were sick," O Ji-heon appeared and recalled his childhood.
That day O Ji-heon said his father worked as a famous Korean history lecturer in the early 1990s and earned considerable income at the time. He said "my father's monthly income was about 50 million won. It was a time when an APT. cost about 30 million won," explaining and causing surprise.
He said that life was as unusual as the comfortable family circumstances. O Ji-heon recalled, "We lived in a house of about 100 pyeong and there was a swimming pool in the yard. Friends would pitch tents and play in our yard," and "my father even had a driver."
But the childhood that looked glamorous was not entirely happy. O Ji-heon confessed the emptiness he felt because of his busy father, saying, "You might think it was a happy childhood, but actually it wasn't."
He said, "My father was always busy with work and work came before family. My mother wanted my father to be devoted to the family," adding, "As grievances piled up, the couple's fights became more frequent."
In the end, O Ji-heon's parents divorced when he was a senior in high school. Although he grew up in an enviable economic environment, his confession that it was difficult to enjoy time with his family made the situation more poignant.
