Pop star and actor Ariana Grande announced she would suspend activities after the 'bony' controversy, and her only refuge was her reunited boyfriend.
On the 7th (local time), U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six reported that as Ariana Grande prepared to step back from performances and public activities amid concerns about her health, the romance with reunited partner Ricky Alvarez became "a ray of light" for her during a difficult time.
A source close to Grande said, "He really supports her a lot. He has even shown up at her tour," noting, "The two knew each other for a long time and found their way back to each other."
Alvarez first joined Grande's team in 2014 as one of her backup dancers and joined the tour as a dancer a year later in 2015. Their relationship became known when the two kissed on stage during Grande's performance of Madonna's "Vogue" at a Pride Month concert in New York in June of the same year.
Afterward, Grande and Alvarez dated for about a year but naturally broke up.
The source said, "The two were in completely different places in life. They were both younger then, and constantly touring, trying to figure out who they were, so the timing didn't line up. But there was never any bad blood between them, and they always cared for each other."
The source added, "It wasn't the right time for the two," saying, "Grande's career was just taking off. They couldn't make time for each other. They didn't even have a chance to see how far the relationship could go."
Ariana Grande recently broke up with actor Ethan Slater, whom she met on the film Wicked. After releasing the new song "Petal," she appeared in the music video looking very thin, raising concerns about her health. Ultimately, Grande announced she would stop public activities and attending official events after the tour to rest.
