Heo Yang-im, the former wife of Ko Ji-yong and a doctor, announced a new start after her divorce.
On the 7th, Heo Yang-im said in a short video on her channel, "Although I have appeared on broadcasts a lot, those were mostly programs about medical topics, and I have hardly ever talked about myself," and said, "If I am going to run my channel now, it will be to communicate with patients, but I also think I should leave behind some of my thoughts and more about me as a person."
When asked why doctors appear on broadcasts, she said, "Because people start to see me," and explained, "So doctors who open clinics also do broadcasts for recognition of the doctor. There is a difference in trust between people who have seen the face and those who have not. I think they do broadcasts for that reason. Honestly, if you take out all the medical practice and go on broadcasts, you lose a lot, but they all still do it. So there must be something else."
Meanwhile, Heo Yang-im, famous as a "beautiful doctor," married former Sechs Kies member Ko Ji-yong in 2013, and the following year she gave birth to their son, Seung-jae. The couple appeared on various programs together, and she showed off her professional knowledge as a doctor on broadcasts.
However, on the 29th of last month, Ko Ji-yong surprised the public by revealing that he and his former wife Heo Yang-im divorced two years earlier. The two divorced in 2024, 11 years after their marriage, and custody of their child was given to the mother, Heo Yang-im.
Regarding this, Ko Ji-yong said, "The reason we did not disclose the divorce until now was because we wanted to protect our son Seung-jae so that he could fully accept the situation and grow up stably," and added, "I will continue to do my best as a father, and although we have separated as a married couple, we support each other and are getting along well. I am sharing this to inform the facts and prevent any misunderstandings that may arise in the future."
