HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE broke their own record once again with the new song "Animal."
According to Spotify's latest "Weekly Top Songs Global" chart released on Aug. 8 (tracking period July 31–Aug. 6), KATSEYE's "Animal" rose one spot from the previous week to No. 8. That is KATSEYE's highest ranking ever on that chart.
"Animal" entered the chart at No. 9 in its first week, far surpassing the No. 18 peak of the previous release "PINKY UP." It then climbed one more spot in just one week, rewriting their personal best. Since the song's release, it has continued a steep rise, proving the intense interest of global fans.
Their strong performance continues in the U.K. as well. "Animal" placed No. 18 this week on the U.K. "Official Singles Top 100" (Aug. 7–13), marking two consecutive weeks in the top 20. Earlier, the U.K. Official Charts highlighted KATSEYE's stepwise growth at the time of "Animal"'s release and said K-pop's approach is evolving across borders into a new mainstream pop model.
Their presence is also prominent in the United States, the world's largest music market. "Animal" entered the U.S. Billboard main song chart "Hot 100" at No. 24 (Aug. 8). On the Billboard "Global 200," which is compiled from streaming data in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, it reached No. 10, marking another personal best for KATSEYE.
"Animal" is a song that captures the contrast between the polished image shown on stage and the hidden, wild inner self. It carries a message to break free from others' gaze and oppression and to freely reveal the instincts latent within oneself. The members' distinctive timbres and more mature vocals amplify the song's appeal and have received a positive response.
KATSEYE's third EP "WILD," which includes this song, ranked No. 1 on Spotify's "Countdown Charts Global" as of Aug. 5. This chart measures pre-save counts by Spotify users for albums scheduled for global release, suggesting the strong interest of global music fans in "WILD," which is set to be released on Aug. 14.
KATSEYE is a global girl group presented jointly by HYBE and Geffen Records; based on HYBE's "multi-home, multi-genre" strategy and the K-pop production system, they debuted in the United States in 2024.
