Former managers who threatened broadcaster Park Na-rae and demanded a portion of the company's sales have been sent to trial.
On the 6th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office said it had arrested and indicted former manager A on charges of violating the Act on Punishment of Violent Crimes, etc. (conspiracy to extort) and had indicted another former manager B without detention.
They are accused of claiming that Park Na-rae spent company funds on her ex-boyfriend and demanding 10% of the company's 2024 sales in exchange for not exposing it.
However, it is reported the crime was only attempted because they did not actually receive any money. In addition, A was additionally charged with embezzlement in the course of duty for diverting 30 million won of Park Na-rae's company funds.
Meanwhile, in December last year, Park Na-rae's former managers filed for a provisional seizure of real estate worth 100 million won at the Seoul Western District Court, claiming workplace harassment, proxy prescriptions and nonpayment of event fees.
Subsequently, they filed a complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station accusing Park Na-rae of special injury, defamation by false statements, and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
Park Na-rae did not remain passive. After accusing the former managers of attempted extortion, Park Na-rae additionally filed a complaint accusing them of embezzlement in the course of duty. After the police investigation, Park Na-rae said she "cooperated faithfully with the investigation and answered truthfully" and maintained that it was "something that will be revealed through the investigation."
