'Riseneu controversy' amid the fallout that has effectively ended web variety shows, producer Kim Seon-tae revealed his gaunt recent condition.
On the 7th, Kim Seon-tae posted an 8-second video titled "Kim Seon-tae update" on his YouTube channel.
In the released video, Kim Seon-tae sat alone on the floor of an empty room with no furniture. Around him were scattered liquor bottles and tissues, and with an overgrown beard and unfocused eyes staring into the void, he briefly said "I'm lonely" before ending the video.
Some online users who saw this reacted with comments such as "He looks very distressed" and "I hope he recovers well," offering their support.
Earlier, on KBS digital content "Don Seon-tae success era," Kim Seon-tae was criticized over mentioning the group Riseneu in the context of the "scary" controversy and over hashtag settings.
Later, KBS producers apologized in an official statement, saying, "Although the intention was to sufficiently convey the cast member's position, some expressions and production methods caused discomfort."
Regarding the controversial hashtag, they explained it was a production mistake in which tags used in a previous video were applied unchanged during the upload process, saying, "There was no political purpose or viral marketing intent." The producers made the video private reflecting viewer opinions, and accepted Kim Seon-tae's voluntary withdrawal, canceling both the digital content and broadcast scheduling.
Following the controversy, interest from fans has continued as even the short update video released by Kim Seon-tae has drawn attention.
