Christopher Nolan's new film "Odyssey" opened at the top of the box office on its first day, launching an overwhelming run.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticketing system (as of 6:50 a.m.), "Odyssey" drew 291,008 viewers on its opening day, Wednesday the 5th, ranking first at the overall box office.
That figure instantly surpasses the opening scores of The King's Warden (117,783) and Colony (199,762), which attracted attention for the collaboration of director Yeon Sang-ho and actress Jun Ji-hyun.
It also broke the opening day records of Nolan's representative works Inception (149,246), The Dark Knight (165,380), Dunkirk (224,242) and Interstellar (227,025), giving Nolan the best opening score of his career.
Earlier, Nolan's visit to Korea with producer Emma Thomas and actors Matt Damon and Charlize Theron had heightened domestic fans' expectations, and "Odyssey" has drawn explosive praise from viewers as soon as it opened.
