Comedian Lee Sang Jun again explained the sound controversy at his show held in Los Angeles, U.S.
On the 5th, Lee Sang Jun posted on his social account, "It started in June 2025 and grew too fast and received too much love," and "It was growing so fast that I joked half in jest during performances for the past two months that we might fall into ruin soon. I actually am not that hurt now," he wrote in a long post.
He said, "I had arrived at the LA venue in the morning and was behind the curtain from 10 minutes before the show. The audience seating wasn't organized, so we started about 10 minutes late; we are never late. I arrived in the morning and finished sound checks and all rehearsals. But after the show I confirmed that the sound was bad in the first few rows on both sides, and I reflected on why I didn't check those seats more carefully and feel very sorry about this," and he added, "As soon as I arrived in LA I went to a baseball stadium because I've never lived in LA and wandered around to find common ground with LA. I was going to do LA-relatable comedy for you at the venue," clarifying the misunderstanding.
He continued, "If I talk about the rest of the show's content, level and degree of fun, this is my current level. I keep studying and researching. Those who like this level come, and if not, you don't have to come," and he said, "We started in June 2025 with a 70-minute show and rose back up after countless trials and errors and street performances, really starting from the bottom," conveying his steady efforts.
Lee Sang Jun said, "I'm going to collect your reviews and comments and make this into comedy too. I'm not old enough to have time to be discouraged. If the comedy I do now fails, someone else will have to start over like this. As of today I will return to being a prankster," and "There are remaining schedules in the U.S. and Canada, so come and see for yourselves. If you think the tickets are expensive, come to Korea to see it. In Korea it is 45,000 won. All shows in Korea are sold out now. We will open additional shows soon," he said.
Regarding harsh reviews of the show, he added, "I am truly sorry to those who posted their first messages in the U.S., and I will have fun using the posts you sent in direct messages. Since you said you were my fan, I'm sorry for causing discomfort, but even using this as comedy material, fans might like it," and he also directly apologized to a fan who commented "please pay more attention," saying, "I am very sorry for causing discomfort. I will supplement and improve going forward. Sorry once again."
Meanwhile, Huang In Hee, producer of "The Lee Sang Jun show," posted an additional statement on the official account and said, "Although we conducted on-site rehearsals and sound checks before the performance, we confirmed after the show that there were sound problems in some specific seats. The production team and the local organizer take seriously that we did not check the issue more thoroughly in advance. We are carrying out follow-up measures such as apologies and refunds. For the remaining shows we will inspect the sound condition in all seating areas and seats adjacent to speakers more closely," but drew a line by saying, "This sound problem arose from the venue's facilities and on-site technical operations and is unrelated to comedian Lee Sang Jun's attitude or performance on stage."
He said, "Over the past year, Lee Sang Jun prepared for 'The Lee Sang Jun show' with meetings, recordings and performances without being late even once, and he prepared for the show with more diligence and seriousness than anyone else. We ask that you stop blaming cast members personally or carrying out personal attacks based on unverified information in relation to this matter," and he emphasized, "We will humbly accept criticism and problem raising at any time. We will also confirm and improve based on the opinions of audience members who actually experienced discomfort. However, we are collecting related materials on those who spread unverified information as if it were fact or re-spread insults and falsehoods aimed at cast members, and we plan to respond in principle after legal review."
He added, "'The Lee Sang Jun show' is a program created to bring laughter and enjoyment to you. We will surely improve the lacking parts thanks to this incident, but we will not waver in the face of groundless criticism and distortion and will responsibly continue the remaining shows." Lee Sang Jun shared the post on his account and reiterated his position.
Meanwhile, on the 2nd (local time) in Los Angeles, U.S., the "2026 Lee Sang Jun show world tour" took place. However, some audience members poured out harsh criticism about the inadequate sound system relative to the high ticket prices, and some expressed dissatisfaction that Lee Sang Jun appeared 10 minutes late. In response, Lee Sang Jun apologized, saying, "After the show I confirmed that some people felt discomfort during the performance. You came to laugh and enjoy yourselves, and I am very sorry. I apologize again and again," and "I will continue to study and research and show you steady improvement and keep trying to make big laughs!! I apologize once again."
