Actor Tom Holland is expected to rake in astronomical earnings thanks to the record-breaking success of his new film "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
According to a report by the Daily Mail on the 5th (local time), Tom Holland is expected to pocket a huge sum totaling $20 million to $25 million, combining his base salary and box office incentives (running guarantee), (Hanwha approximately 28 billion to 35.5 billion won).
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" earned $360 million in North America in just three days after its release on the 31st of last month, producing the major upset of surpassing the previous record for the biggest opening weekend in North America held by "Avengers: Endgame."
Six days after release, it surpassed $1.05 billion in worldwide cumulative revenue (Hanwha approximately 1.43 trillion won), marking the second-fastest global $1 billion milestone in history.
This income represents a meteoric rise in status compared with Holland's early pay. When he first entered the MCU with "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016, his pay was only about $250,000. After that, it rose to $1.5 million for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), $4 million for "Far From Home" (2019), $10 million for "No Way Home" (2021), and with this new film he has indisputably joined the ranks of the highest-paid top stars.
This is clearly unrivaled even compared with past Spider-Man actors. Andrew Garfield was paid $500,000 for "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012), Tobey Maguire earned $4 million for his first "Spider-Man" in 2002, and in "Spider-Man 3" (2007) he received a $15 million base salary plus 7.5% of the revenue.
With a production budget of $225 million (Hanwha approximately 320 billion won) invested in the film, Tom Rothman, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, could not hide his excitement, saying, "Those who said theaters were dead have been proven wrong. The theater market is now experiencing a tremendous revival."
Critical acclaim from reviewers continues. In particular, for the evolution in this film where Peter Parker can produce webbing directly from his wrists instead of using a mechanical device (web shooters), praise has poured in calling it "the perfect revival of the showmanship from the Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi era — the divine move."
Meanwhile, Tom Holland is reported to have recently married co-star Zendaya Coleman, who he worked with on the film. The two have captured both career and love.
