The group Red Velvet released its new mini album 'Velvet Summer' on the 3rd, and it took first place immediately upon comeback.
SM Entertainment said "Red Velvet's 'Velvet Summer' title track 'Surfin' Boy (Surfin' Boy)' recorded No. 1 on Bugs' real-time chart as soon as it was released. Also, all the tracks on the album entered major domestic music charts such as Melon and Bugs."
Global fans' reactions have been hot as well. 'Velvet Summer' reached No. 1 on the iTunes top albums chart in a total of 15 regions, including Denmark, Sweden, Chile, Peru, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Türkiye, Paraguay and the Philippines, Cambodia, and ranked in the top 10 in 28 regions.
In particular, in China it earned No. 1 on QQ Music's digital album sales chart and overall, No. 1 for Korean music videos, and obtained the "gold certification" awarded when sales exceed about 250,000 yuan. It is also popular with global fans, ranking No. 1 on Tencent Music's integrated K-pop chart across its five music platforms and No. 1 on Kugou Music's digital album sales chart.
With this, Red Velvet proved their power as the "summer queen" immediately upon comeback.
