Alpha Drive One (abbreviated AD1) member Sanghyeon will undergo surgery to remove a vocal cord polyp.
On the 4th, his agency WakeOne said, "After Sanghyeon visited a hospital complaining of throat discomfort, his condition was continuously monitored and he underwent additional tests and treatment, and recent diagnostic results confirmed that surgical treatment is necessary for a 'vocal cord polyp (Vocal Cord Polyp)."
The agency explained, "Accordingly, Sanghyeon is scheduled to undergo vocal cord polyp removal surgery on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and medical staff have said that while daily life and exercise or physical activity within nonstrenuous limits will be possible after the surgery, he should refrain from using his voice for about three weeks."
It added, "Considering the artist's health as the top priority, Sanghyeon will not attend official schedules scheduled from Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Saturday, Aug. 22," and "After Aug. 22, he will resume activities after sufficient recovery and rest, taking into account medical opinions and the artist's wishes and condition."
The agency asked for fans' understanding, saying, "Vocalization and singing or other activities that strain the throat will be resumed gradually depending on recovery progress, and activities requiring voice use may be conducted in a limited manner."
The agency also promised, "We will closely consult with medical staff to ensure Sanghyeon can continue stable activities as an artist after sufficient postoperative recovery, and we will do our best to provide continuous support for his recovery, throat health care and necessary rehabilitation."
Meanwhile, Sanghyeon participated in Mnet's Boys II Planet last year and finished in seventh place, debuting as a member of Alpha Drive One.
