Christopher Nolan, who visited Korea for the first time, said he had been hoping to visit.
On the 4th, Christopher Nolan, director of the film Odyssey, which is scheduled to be released on Aug. 5, appeared as an interviewee on SBS' Newshunters, drawing attention.
When the anchor mentioned the extreme heat, Nolan said, "I passed through China and India, so I've adapted to the heat," and joked, "At least I'm glad I'm not wearing a tie like the anchor."
The anchor then asked, "Why do you think Korean audiences in particular like your films?" Christopher Nolan opened by saying, "One of the reasons I have wanted to come to Korea for a long time is that when Interstellar was released several years ago, many Korean audience members came to see it."
He said, "When a film is released worldwide, there are difficulties from a director's perspective," and noted, "There are many countries I have never been to, but I have to communicate with audiences in those countries through my films. But it is clear that Korean audiences reacted very enthusiastically to Interstellar."
He added, "Since then I really wanted to come to Korea to meet the audience and feel that enthusiasm. Until now I hadn't had the opportunity, but with this release I have finally come to Korea. It's interesting to see how my work resonates with people from different cultures," expressing his anticipation.
Meanwhile, Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, depicts the epic tale of Odysseus, the hero who led the Greeks to victory in the Trojan War, fighting the wrath of the gods to return home.
