Actor Kong Hyojin expressed remorse toward Jung Jun-won, who was embroiled in controversy over his attitude on a variety show, saying "I couldn't save him."
On the 4th Kong Hyojin posted on social media a photo with the caption "The husband who actually vomited after the recording" and "I'm sorry I couldn't save him."
The released photo captured Jung Jun-won appearing on MBC's Hangout With Yoo. Jung Jun-won, unable to adapt to his first real variety recording, kept his mouth and eyes tightly shut and showed a mentally shaken face. After capturing that screen Kong Hyojin wrote the comment, "He really vomited after the recording. I couldn't save him. I'm sorry," expressing regret and distress.
Kong Hyojin appeared on Hangout With Yoo with Jung Jun-won, but with only the junior unilaterally facing an attitude controversy, it appears she left the post out of apology and guilt.
Meanwhile, on the episode of MBC's Hangout With Yoo that aired on the afternoon of the 1st, the "Shoot It" segment depicted the members Yu Jae-seok, HaHa, Heo Kyunghwan and Joo Woo-jae preparing for season 2 of a short-form drama.
Director Yu Jae-seok and the members held meetings with potential lead actors, and the first candidate that appeared was Kong Hyojin. He said he wanted romance elements included and introduced Jung Jun-won, saying, "There is an actor I would like to recommend. If that friend becomes the male lead, we'll consider it positively." The two are currently appearing opposite each other in MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer.
However, immediately after the broadcast Jung Jun-won's attitude controversy blew up online. As a variety novice Jung Jun-won appeared nervous throughout the show and could not hold a proper talk, and above all in the short-form acting challenge mission meant to show his main profession of acting he could not even utter a single line, frustrating viewers. Yu Jae-seok said, "Let's move on to the next one," and HaHa picked up and threw his hat. The scene then spread on social media and online communities, and some internet users criticized his perfunctory attitude and unleashed excessive abusive comments and personal attacks that left people frowning.
Hangout With Yoo regular HaHa took to his social media account and wrote about the short-form clip, "I was at the scene and it was so lovely and cute and fun!. The reaction was meant to play it up for fun!" and added, "For a first variety appearance Hangout With Yoo is really difficult even for pros! He is not a professional entertainer so please see him as cute and just enjoy the variety. Please have a happy day today! Applaud the actor! Please cheer for him! I support him!" and posted a clarification himself.
Kim Hyun-sook also wrote on social media on the 3rd, "#Why has the world...since when did the world become like this? Promotion must have been necessary, he would have left when asked to, he probably did his best, everyone will have their impressions, but just because it wasn't to your liking do not turn criticism into abuse," and said, "Let's all breathe a little and live," delivering a rebuke to excessive criticism.<
