'OK! MADAM 2' Uhm Jung-hwa mentioned a moment when she felt a crisis as an actress and revealed what she worked on.
On the morning of the 4th at a cafe on Samcheong-ro in Jongno-gu, Seoul, an interview was conducted with lead actress Uhm Jung-hwa of the film 'OK! MADAM 2'.
'OK! MADAM 2' (director Lee Cheol-ha, provided by CGV Pictures·OAL, distributed by CGV Pictures, produced by OAL) is a comic action film about former legend agent Mi-young and her family, who set off on an ultra-luxury cruise to escape the heat and their current lives and become embroiled in a cruise kidnapping in the middle of the blue sea. It returns six years after season 1, which drew 1.22 million people amid the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. Original members Uhm Jung-hwa, Park Sung-woong, Lee Sang-yoon, and Bae Jung-nam return, and distinctive new members Park Jin-joo, Ryeo-un, and Choi Sooyoung have joined.
Uhm Jung-hwa gave a passionate performance as former special agent Mi-young who set off on an ultra-luxury cruise. She returned to the screen three years after "Hwasahan Geunyeo" (2023) and also appeared on the small screen in Doctor Cha (2023) and My Troublesome Star (2025).
Practicing kickboxing and other disciplines for difficult action scenes, Uhm Jung-hwa said she felt confident, saying, "I think I could do action for another 20 years." At 56, Uhm Jung-hwa strictly limited carbohydrates and sugar to maintain a body age in her 30s, saying, "It became harder to diet than before. As I got older, my body got heavier and at the same time my mind got heavier," and "So dieting was ineffective and too hard, so I chose a low-carb, high-fat diet. I did it intensely for about three years, and my inflammation markers fell and my blood cleared. As I kept at it, it became a habit, so now I have naturally adapted even without following a low-carb, high-fat diet."
She added, "I didn't eat bread at all for three years. When I really wanted it, I ate one made with eggs and allulose. It wasn't easy, but I adapted. Now I eat a little and also have cake. My diet is about one and a half meals a day," and said, "As I aged, I became more physically tired and more interested in my health. Now I mainly eat a low-carb, low-sugar diet rather than a low-carb, high-fat diet."
In particular, Uhm Jung-hwa recalled, "About three years before season 1 of 'OK! MADAM,' I was very down mentally and lost confidence. I had fewer projects and it was hard, and I think that's when I started the low-carb, high-fat diet. I worried, 'What if more time passes without projects coming to me? People might forget me as an actress..'" She said, "Then I found the 'OK! MADAM' script and was really so happy. I felt a precious desire to do it properly. I cried at the thought."
Meanwhile, 'OK! MADAM 2' opens on the 12th.
