Entertainer and U.S. lawyer Seo Dong-joo said she has lost contact with her younger sibling since the death of her father, the late Seo Se-won.
On the 2nd, Seo posted a long message on her social media (SNS) sharing her thoughts on the mother-daughter relationship.
Seo said, "The mother-daughter relationship seems more difficult and profound than any other," adding, "My father has passed away, and I am not in contact with my younger sibling, so the only family I have left now is my mother."
She continued, "So these days I find myself relying on my mother more, and I increasingly feel it is a bond that cannot be severed," and wrote, "When my mother sees me as a woman before a daughter, and I, too, come to understand my mother as a woman before a mother, it seems we can love each other as we are."
After the post was made public, when an online user asked, "Why don't you contact your younger sibling?", Seo explained the Iyoo in a comment.
She answered, "After my father passed away, several things hit me all at once and the stress piled up, and at some point while talking, something just snapped," noting that she is not currently staying in touch with her younger sibling.
Seo is the daughter of TV personality Seo Jeong-hee and the late Seo Se-won. After obtaining her law license in the United States, she worked there before returning to Korea in 2020, and has since been pursuing both broadcasting and legal-related activities. In June last year, she remarried a non-celebrity who is four years younger.
Meanwhile, Seo Se-won divorced after the 2015 assault case involving Seo Jeong-hee, and died in Cambodia in 2023 at age 67.
