Actor Rhee Minjung transforms into a professional workaholic wedding dress shop owner and tells a realistic story of marriage and divorce.
The new KBS Drama channel drama 'Okay, let's get divorced' (directed by Joo Seong-woo, written by Hwang Ji-eon, produced by CANVAS N), which is scheduled to premiere on the 19th (Wed) at 11 p.m., released the first stills of lead actor Rhee Minjung today (3rd).
'Okay, let's get divorced' is a work depicting the real divorce experiences of a wedding dress shop owner couple who decide to put an end to a marriage that has become utterly exhausted. Rhee Minjung plays Baek Mi-young, the owner of the wedding dress shop 'G and White,' and gives a passionate performance.
In the released first stills, Rhee Minjung displays a confident and professional demeanor befitting someone who loves her work, and her trademark bright smile shows off a lovely charm that captures attention. In contrast, another still reveals an anxious and complicated look in her eyes, arousing curiosity about what shadows and conflicts might be hidden behind the previously happy married life with her husband Ji Won-ho (played by Kim Ji-seok). In particular, her mid-length bob visual also brings to mind her look from the drama 'Boys Over Flowers,' which sparked a bob haircut trend.
Regarding the project, Rhee Minjung said the realistic story of two people truly finding each other and true love was appealing, explaining why she chose the script. About her character Baek Mi-young, she described her as "someone who tries to solve everything alone and carries sorrow and pain by herself," and added, "I think the sync rate is high because it's similar to my actual personality of not easily leaning on someone," raising expectations for a perfectly fitting performance.
In reality, Rhee Minjung reportedly made special efforts to portray Baek Mi-young, a workaholic and a member of a shaken family, in a three-dimensional way. She said, "I studied wedding dresses and referred a lot to the stories of people who actually worked as co-CEOs of wedding dress companies," and added, "Because much of the couple's past narrative is reflected in the drama, I imagined past events by writing them like a diary," revealing her passion for acting.
She did not spare praise for her co-star Kim Ji-seok. Rhee Minjung said, "The chemistry was really good. I thought actor Kim Ji-seok would suit the role of Ji Won-ho well, and it seems an even more multifaceted Ji Won-ho was born on set," increasing interest in the real couple chemistry the two will show.
Finally, Rhee Minjung named "another beginning" as the keyword that runs through 'Okay, let's get divorced,' saying, "It's a story that starts again at what seems like the end. I hope many people empathize with Baek Mi-young's story and join in."
