Actor Jung Jun-won was embroiled in a controversy over his attitude after appearing on MBC's Hangout With Yoo, and Haha stepped in to defend him.
Earlier, Jung Jun-won appeared with Kong Hyojin on the March 1 broadcast of MBC's Hangout With Yoo. That episode was a "short-form drama—Chik-eo-you" special in which Kong Hyojin, the lead actor of the new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer, and Jung Jun-won auditioned as lead actors for director Yu Jae-seok's short-form drama.
Making his first appearance on a variety show, Jung Jun-won appeared nervous throughout the broadcast and could not properly participate in the talk segments; in particular, during the short-form acting challenge mission meant to show his primary profession of acting, he could not deliver a single line, and an exasperated Haha made a gesture of throwing his hat.
The scene later spread as a short-form video on social media, and internet users poured out critical comments accusing him of seeming insincere and passive.
As debate raged for days, Haha finally stepped forward to defend Jung Jun-won. On his social media account, Haha left a comment on the short-form video saying, "I was there in person and he was so lovable, cute and funny!", drawing attention.
He explained, "It was a reaction meant to make it fun! It's really hard even for professionals to appear on Hangout With Yoo for the first time! He's not a professional entertainer, so please find him cute and just enjoy the show."
He added, "Please have a happy day today! I applaud the actor! Please cheer him on! I support him all the way!"
Meanwhile, Jung Jun-won gained public attention playing the role of Koo Do-won in the tvN drama Resident Playbook, and he is currently meeting viewers through MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama A Bona fide Killer.
