The 'Best Peak' members once again turned low ratings into laughter.
On the 2nd episode of MBC variety show 'Best Peak', scenes showed Jang Dongmin's daughter Jiwoo and son Siwoo, Heo Kyunghwan's niece Ria, and Boom's eldest daughter Yunseo climbing to Baby Peak on Bulamsan together.
On that episode, the members also read viewers' comments and had time to share various opinions about the program.
One viewer left heartfelt advice saying, "You need to build your own fan base to compete with shows that have a fixed fan base like Running Man and 1 Night 2 Days," and the members nodded in agreement.
Then You Se Yoon mentioned a recently viral article saying, "We are the No. 1 comprehensive entertainment news," drawing laughter.
Earlier, 'Best Peak' mocked its own low ratings and drew attention by offering viewers a 90-degree apology. When articles were introduced that said, "It's disgustingly unfunny," and "It bowed its head at single-digit percentage ratings," the members took it in good humor. They comforted themselves by saying, "Anyway, we're number one," and the production team added a caption reading, "Those who laugh in the face of harsh criticism are first class," which provoked laughter.
In reality, 'Best Peak' tried a variety of content beyond mountain segments to bounce back ratings, but it failed to achieve the expected results. The members once bowed to viewers on air and pleaded, "Please don't change the channel and save us."
Meanwhile, that episode warmed viewers' hearts with scenes of Jang Dongmin completing the climb to Baby Peak carrying his 18kg daughter Jiwoo on his back and holding his 17kg son Siwoo in his arms, and Boom finishing the hike with his daughter Yunseo and then calling his wife to say, "Honey, I love you."
