Hollywood actor Matt Damon expressed disappointment toward director Christopher Nolan.
On the morning of the 3rd at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for the film "Odyssey." The conference was attended by director Christopher Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, actors Matt Damon and Charlize Theron, who shared their stories.
The film "Odyssey," directed by Christopher Nolan and distributed by Universal Pictures, which opens domestically on the 5th, is an epic about the hero "Odysseus," who led the Trojan War to victory and fights the wrath of the gods to return home.
That day Matt Damon joked about not receiving the compliment "PerfecT" from director Christopher Nolan while filming, saying, "I haven't heard the word 'PerfecT' but I hope I can hear it soon. Maybe I'll hear it someday. We joke about this a lot. He once gave Zendaya the compliment 'PerfecT'. Tom Holland was there, too. We joked saying 'we didn't hear it,'" he said with a laugh.
He also complained that it felt like filming seven movies at once, saying, "Each location was difficult and demanding, and each chapter had its own story. So when we mastered the skills needed at one location, we had to develop another set of skills. If you work with Nolan, of course you would say 'yes' to the next project. Being part of a Nolan film is another matter that I think all actors would envy," he replied. When asked if he would be okay with a project that felt like filming 12 movies at once, he readily answered, "It could be even more. I'd still do it. But I don't think it's up to us. Whether we collaborate again seems to depend on the story."
By contrast, Charlize Theron drew laughs by firmly saying she was not at all disappointed about not receiving the compliment "PerfecT," stating, "I was completely fine. I loved the direction. I didn't need any other direction. I was enjoying shooting so much that I didn't even realize I hadn't heard the word 'PerfecT', but Matt Damon must have needed it. I hope you do well going forward," and she added, "My phone number is the same, so call me immediately if there's a next project," further amusing the audience.
Hearing this, director Christopher Nolan said, "First of all, Charlize gave a perfect answer. It was 'PerfecT.' Matt Damon's answer wasn't bad (not bad)," but he also explained, "Because I'm British, 'not bad' is a very good compliment."
