Super Junior's Donghae directly revealed behind-the-scenes details of past dating rumors that surfaced with 2NE1's Sandara Park.
On the 3rd, Sandara Park appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel 'Donghaemul and Baekdooyeonhyuk' and talked with Donghae and Eunhyuk about memories from before their debut.
Donghae, who warmly welcomed Sandara Park, introduced their long bond, saying, "We have known each other for a very long time. We first met in high school and have been informal with each other since then." He went on to mention past dating rumors, saying, "Although it's an old story among fans, many people thought we were dating."
It turned out to be during their trainee days. SE7EN, who was the only superstar, often called them and bought them meat. Moreover, the two's first meeting occurred even earlier than that. Donghae recalled, "The first contact came from hyung SE7EN asking me to come out to watch a movie. But he said, 'A Filipino friend will also come,' and I worried, 'What am I going to talk about with a Filipino?'"
He added with a laugh, "It was a time when the internet didn't work well, and I didn't know the Filipino language, and neither of us were very talkative, so we just watched the movie and parted ways." He laughed, "After it ended, Sandara Park's one word of 'goodbye' was all there was." Sandara Park also reminisced about the fresh days before debut, saying, "Back then I would speak only a word or two a day. I didn't have many friends, but SE7EN took care of me and said let's be close."
Earlier in 2014, Sandara Park attracted attention by posting a photo on her personal SNS with the caption, "I met my friend of 10 years Donghae after a really long time~ I was so glad. I look forward to many great stages in the future! Fighting," thereby confirming their friendship at the time. The two, who maintained their friendship for more than 20 years, also warmed hearts.
