Director Christopher Nolan shared his impressions of visiting Korea for the first time.
On the morning of the 3rd at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held for the film 'Odyssey's' visit to Korea. The conference was attended by director Christopher Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and actors Matt Damon and Charlize Theron, who spoke at the event.
The film "Odyssey," directed by Christopher Nolan and distributed/imported by Universal Pictures, which opens domestically on the 5th, is an epic about the hero "Odysseus," who led the Trojans to victory in the Trojan War, fighting the wrath of the gods to return home.
Christopher Nolan, who has been beloved by Korean audiences for films such as 'Inception,' 'Interstellar' and 'Oppenheimer,' visited Korea for the first time with "Odyssey." On the day he arrived, while walking through Ikseon-dong and tasting salt bread, Nolan said, "We had a little time so we were able to look around Seoul. We were able to walk along the Han River Police and it was very beautiful but it was very hot. There were many places to stay cool so we could look around and eat salt bread. It was very delicious. I also talked with fans and they were so welcoming, which I liked. It really seems like an amazing city. I want to spend more time here."
Producer Emma Thomas also said, "I love Korea very much. As Chris said, I walked along the Han River Police. I was so surprised by how beautiful the natural scenery is. There were birds and I loved the places where people could rest and cool off, and I also went to Olive Young. I dragged Chris to Olive Young and he struggled, but I had so much fun. My son's girlfriend is Korean American. She knew what we should do in Korea. Among those things was salt bread, so we did as much as possible."
Director Chris especially said, "I have wanted to come to Korea for a long time. I wanted to bring my film here. I think it has been that way since 'Interstellar.' I know Korean audiences really liked 'Interstellar' and that it played in cinemas for a long time. It's surprising that a film I made is liked by people in other countries. It's strange and pleasant that people in a country I have never been to like my film. It seems to make me want to visit that country. I want to bring my films and talk with audiences and hear people's impressions. I tried to come to Korea for many reasons during 'Tenet' but couldn't because of COVID. Finally, I came to Korea with 'Odyssey.' I am very happy and curious to meet Korean audiences for the first time," he said.
