A middle school homeroom teacher who had directly refuted school bullying allegations against Wonyi of group Lisséne deleted a social networking service (SNS) account after the controversy settled for now. Before closing the account, the teacher left a post saying, "Rather than looking at others as if judging them, please see their strengths first."
A, who identified as Wonyi's middle school homeroom teacher, said on the 2nd via SNS, "Now that the matter seems to be resolved, I plan to delete the account," adding, "I hope you will continue to look kindly on Wonyi."
In the final post, A also shared thoughts on online culture prompted by this controversy. A wrote, "Although SNS has developed, communication seems to have disappeared and only one-sided remarks abound," adding, "Even in educational settings, I often see cases where matters that could be resolved through sufficient conversation flow toward reporting, making it hard to restore relationships."
A went on, "Anyone can make mistakes and can unintentionally hurt others," adding, "Rather than eyeing others warily or as if judging them, I hope we become a world that sees strengths first and understands weaknesses generously."
A also cited the Analects' "Saminhaeng pilyuasa (三人行 必有我師)," saying, "There is something to learn from anyone," and added, "I hope you first love yourself, and live a life where that heart extends to others."
On the 1st, an online community carried a post raising so-called "iljin" rumors and school bullying allegations surrounding Wonyi's school days. Afterward, A directly opened an SNS account and, by disclosing the yearbook, student council activity photos, and past letters, refuted the allegations, saying, "Wonyi was a diligent student who served as a schoolwide student council officer."
After the homeroom teacher's testimony, criticism mounted online against the false allegations. The initial post that raised the allegations was also reportedly deleted. A concluded the controversy by deleting the SNS account after saying, "It seems the matter has been resolved well."
