Comedian Shim Hyun-seop reveals his struggle to repay 1.5 billion won in debt his mother took on.
On the 1st episode of MBN's Dongchimi, a preview for next week aired. In the preview, the cast discussed the topic "Where did all that money go?"
During that time, Yoon Hyung-bin recounted earning hundreds of millions of won a month, and Kim Jang Hoon said, "'All right, let's sign the contract' — then what did they give? It was 900 million won," recalling that he received a check at the time of signing.
Then Shim Hyun-seop said, "I earned 320 million won in one day," surprising everyone. He continued, "But where did all that money go.." prompting curiosity.
Afterwards, the cast members also shared experiences of suffering large financial losses. Kong Hyung-jin said, "I sold watches to pay my employees' salaries. I sold almost 10 of the 100 million won ones," and added, "When extreme stress comes, you lose teeth."
Yoon Hyung-bin said, "I went to collect the money an investor promised, but it was empty and there were bills piled up this high," describing being scammed, and a finance expert urged, "I hope you consult with Jeong Gyeong-mi," prompting laughter.
In particular, Shim Hyun-seop said, "I took on 1.5 billion won in debt and paid it all off in seven years," and added sadly, "When I was 40, my mother was hospitalized." He said, "But if it hadn't been my mother's debt, I wouldn't have earned that much. I turned it into rage," adding to the poignancy.
