Actress Min Ji-young said five years have passed since thyroid cancer surgery but she has not received a clean bill of health yet.
On her recently released YouTube channel "Min Ji-young TV," Min Ji-young explained the reason she was returning to Korea while she and her husband were continuing a world tour in a campervan in Spain.
Min Ji-young said "It's already been a year, so it's time to go to Korea for a cancer screening," adding "the picture I wanted most was to receive a clean bill of health showing no more problems with my body in the fifth year after surgery, but that didn't happen."
She went on to say, "Currently cancer cells have also been found in the left thyroid, so I am under continuous follow-up observation," and "it's been five years since the surgery, but I won't be able to receive a clean bill of health this time either." She added, "I'm only human, so sometimes I feel like I'm living with a time bomb inside my body," and admitted frankly, "there are times when I suddenly feel depressed, I get tired more quickly, and swelling can be severe."
However, she also conveyed hope. Min Ji-young said, "Fortunately, thyroid cancer progresses relatively slowly, so after checking my current condition I think I will be able to continue the trip," and showed a positive attitude, saying, "there is a happy virus stronger than the cancer cells in my body, so I always travel with a grateful heart."
Later, in another video released on the 2nd, Min Ji-young once again updated her condition, saying, "It's already been five years since I had a right thyroid hemithyroidectomy," and "but because cancer was also diagnosed in the left thyroid, I ultimately could not receive a clean bill of health."
She said, "I'm grateful for the fact that if I manage the follow-up observation well going forward, I can continue the world tour in the campervan," and said that after the checkup she returned to Madrid, Spain, to continue traveling with her husband and their pet dog.
Meanwhile, Min Ji-young married show host Kim Hyung-kyun, who is two years her junior, in 2018, and in 2021 she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent surgery and treatment. She is currently traveling the world in a campervan with her husband and sharing daily life through YouTube.
