Model Jang Yoon-ju revealed an anecdote about her boyfriend's parents opposing the relationship because of her profession.
On the 1st, Jang Yoon-ju released content titled "A day I went to a PD's house and came back after sharing everything from meeting the in-laws to the story of my boyfriend's parents opposing the relationship" on her YouTube channel Yoonjure Jang Yoon-ju.
The production team asked Jang Yoon-ju, who visited the house, "You were famous when you got married; did the in-laws oppose it?" Jang Yoon-ju said, "There was. Even in past relationships, when this person dated someone, if the boyfriend told his mother, she didn't like it at all. It seems they had quite a prejudice against the profession of being a model, and because of that there are many wounds like that," she said.
She continued, "They might say, 'I don't like that person doing that kind of work; I saw a magazine and she was all naked,' or something like that. The perception of models now and the perception when I debuted and was dating at first were a bit different. There was opposition across the board. Because of that I even cried a lot. My job and who I am were often not welcomed without even meeting me," she frankly confessed.
She also spoke about her marriage to her husband Jeong Seung-min. Jang Yoon-ju opened up, "At first, when Seung-min said he wanted to meet someone like this and thought it was great and wanted to marry, my mother worried, 'Would it be all right for someone who does that kind of work to come into our family?'"
Jang Yoon-ju added, "At that time my mother and I briefly appeared on an EBS program called 'Mother Before.' It features someone's mother and how that mother raised the child. On 'Mother Before,' my mother and I appeared without embellishment. My mother was full of vegetables she had worked hard to grow on the rooftop, and she ate those and raised me," she explained.
She continued, "But watch that once. She is not materialistic or extravagant; she grew up even more ordinarily than we did," she said. She asked them to watch it and then talk to her, so her mother and father looked it up. After watching it, their minds completely changed. They said, 'Mom may have had some prejudice,' and through that program my parents changed a bit," she said, drawing attention to the marriage process.
Jang Yoon-ju married industrial designer and entrepreneur Jeong Seung-min, who is four years younger, in 2015, and they have a daughter.
