Comedian Kim Won-hoon laughed at the Blue Dragon.
Kim Won-hoon took home the best male entertainer award trophy at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards ceremony held July 31 at Paradise City in Incheon.
Kim Won-hoon won the honor after receiving praise for the diverse characters he showcased and his steady variety show sensibility on Coupang Play comedy show SNL Korea season 8 earlier this year.
He said, "I did not expect to win at all," and with a nervous expression opened his remarks, then added, "I thought it was an honor just to be nominated alongside such distinguished seniors, so I am truly grateful to receive this award. I think they saw how hard I worked and poured my passion into giving people laughs."
He also did not forget Jo Jin-se and Eom Ji-yoon, the members of the YouTube channel Shortbox who helped him reach this position. "Thank you for being with me when I had nothing. This award is because you all filled my shortcomings. I ask for your continued support," he said tearfully, delivering an emotional remark.
Meanwhile, Kim Won-hoon debuted as a KBS 30th class publicly recruited comedian and built his career by performing for a long time on Gag Concert. Since then he has worked across broadcast, OTT and YouTube with shows such as Jjijigo Bokneun Yeohaeng and Office Workers, offering natural laughs on each program with his understated reactions and humor grounded in reality.
