I Live Alone Park Ji-hyun revealed the reason she had no choice but to return to Korea after two years of being an international student in China.
On the 31st broadcast, the MBC variety show I Live Alone showed Park Ji-hyun leaving for a trip to Shanghai, China.
On that day, Park Ji-hyun, who visited Shanghai for the first time in about 20 years, rode a bicycle and visited the middle school she attended from ages 11 to 13. Then Park Ji-hyun looked at something on her phone and headed toward a shopping alley.
She had gone to the exact location where her parents used to run businesses. Park Ji-hyun said, "They ran various businesses in China. First they sold accessories, then they ran a snack shop. Both businesses did well. Gaining confidence, they opened a Korean restaurant."
But the Korean restaurant became the downfall, and they had to close, forcing them to return to Korea after two years. Park Ji-hyun recalled, "When I think about that time, all I remember is my mother crying every day. It was completely ruined and we went back."
Then Jun Hyun-moo said, "They really went bankrupt back then, but I heard my parents treated their employees very well at that time. They didn't even miss salaries." When Code Kunst said, "You really know everything," he joked, "my only son."
The place where her parents used to operate their business is now a hair salon. Park Ji-hyun could not hide her bitter feelings, saying, "Business is doing well."
When an employee said that before the hair salon there had been a bank and a convenience store, Park Ji-hyun recalled her parents, saying, "So I felt that a lot of time has passed. If you go back 20 years from here, my father would have been in his early 40s. My mother in her late 30s."
She added, "My mother and father really took on a great challenge at a very young age. Running a business abroad is something I don't think I could have done. Parents are all admirable. They really lived fiercely," expressing her respect.
Meanwhile, Park Ji-hyun previously revealed on last year's I Live Alone that she is a returnee from studying in China. At the time she said, "We lived somewhat well," and "My family ran an internet cafe. In China they first had an accessory shop, then a snack shop, and then a Korean restaurant. They failed badly there," certifying her past as born into wealth.
