Earlier, director Christopher Nolan and actors Matt Damon and Charlize Theron arrived on the afternoon of the 1st aboard a charter flight through the exclusive terminal at Gimpo International Airport. The three stepped onto Korean soil wearing bright smiles despite the sweltering heat and smiled broadly while signing autographs for domestic fans waiting in front of the arrivals area.
Because official events related to the film begin on the 3rd, they each took personal time on the first day of arrival. First-time visitor to Korea Christopher Nolan visited Ikseon-dong, known for its traditional Korean culture and hanok houses. He reportedly tasted salt bread there and visited a café with a pleasant atmosphere.
Matt Damon visited Korea for the first time in 10 years since his 2016 lead role in Jason Bourne and attended the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League game between the Kiwoom Heroes and the SSG Landers at Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome. Damon went to the ballpark to cheer for Kiwoom's foreign hitter Matt Davidson. Because a friend of Damon knew Davidson, they inquired about visiting Gocheok Dome, and Damon reportedly purchased tickets himself for his beautiful wife and his two lovely daughters to attend.
Damon watched the baseball game in person and cheered enthusiastically, occasionally making hand-heart gestures for Korean fans. He also took care of his family, chatting affectionately with his daughters.
The "Odyssey" team, visiting for four nights and five days, begins official events with a press conference on the morning of the 3rd. On the 4th a red carpet event will be held at Yeongdeungpo Times Square, and they will also appear on tvN's You Quiz, Lee Dong-jin's Piaakia, MUNMYEONG SPECIAL (Moonmyeong Teukgeup), and SBS's News Hunters, among others, keeping a busy schedule.
