Actor Hwang Jung-min has been embroiled in a public dispute over his private life, and his past admission of "two years of abstaining from alcohol" that he revealed himself is again drawing attention.
Ahead of this, Hwang Jung-min's side said regarding the private life allegations circulating online, "The author of the malicious posts is a suspect in stalking crimes who has been continuously harassing Hwang Jung-min," and announced plans for legal action. On the other hand, the person who posted the messages has continued additional claims via social media, and online attention is focused on both sides' positions.
Along with this, Hwang Jung-min's confession about abstaining from alcohol that he revealed on a broadcast last year is being reexamined.Hwang Jung-min said on last year's MBC variety show "Good Day" when meeting G-Dragon, "I quit smoking as a gift to myself for turning 50."
He went on, "When I quit smoking I ended up drinking more. As I drank more, my memory deteriorated and I made more careless mistakes," and added, "So I decided to take a break from alcohol for a year, and it has continued until now."
When G-Dragon exclaimed, "I can't even imagine that," in surprise, Hwang Jung-min said, "I intended to drink only with my wife, but my wife doesn't drink. So I naturally stopped drinking," which drew laughter.
Hwang Jung-min has said in various interviews and content since then that he has continued abstaining from alcohol. Because he consistently shared choices for health and changes in lifestyle, his remarks at the time are again being mentioned in connection with the recent private life controversy.
Meanwhile, Hwang Jung-min's side said, "The court issued provisional measures such as three restraining orders against the suspect and, recognizing the stalking charge, issued a summary order imposing a fine of 3 million won," and added, "We plan to take additional legal action regarding maliciously edited posts," drawing attention to the dispute over the truth.
