Comedienne Lee Kyung-sil revealed for the first time in 23 years why she visited an amusement park with her ex-husband shortly after her divorce.
On the 30th, Lee Kyung-sil and actress Son Su-a, mother and daughter, launched a YouTube channel called "Our mother Lee Kyung-sil" and released their first video, "Eight tenths of mother-daughter trips are fights."
The video showed the two taking a day trip to Danyang. Son Su-a said, "Now that I think about it, I hardly ever spent time alone with my mother," and added, "I hope this trip is the start of trips just for the two of us."
While driving toward Danyang, Lee Kyung-sil cautiously said, "I want to go to Everland someday. Didn't we go when we were young and then stop going?" Son Su-a replied happily, "I would love that. I like churros," and the two recalled childhood memories of amusement parks.
Then Lee Kyung-sil brought up a story she had kept buried in her heart for a long time. She recalled, "I went once after the divorce. After that I didn't go," and said, "An article came out then and my grandmother raged, asking 'Why did you meet him?'" She calmly added, "People asked if I went knowing an article would come out, but I went thinking of you."
For a moment there was silence in the car, and Son Su-a listened to her mother's story without speaking. Lee Kyung-sil later expressed that despite the pain of divorce she wanted to leave memories of family for her young children, so she visited the amusement park with her ex-husband. Afterwards she suggested, "Let's take Ihun (grandson) and go together," and Son Su-a readily agreed, continuing the warm atmosphere.
After arriving in Danyang, the mother and daughter walked through the market together, and when merchants greeted them saying, "She's prettier in person," Son Su-a smiled contentedly and said, "Thank you for being kind to my mother."
The two then arrived to go paragliding. When they finally succeeded in taking to the sky, they gave a satisfied travel review, saying, "It feels like I became a bird; I feel so good."
Meanwhile, Lee Kyung-sil married in 1992 and had one son and one daughter, and later went through a divorce. Recently on KBS2's Malja Show (KBS 2TV), she named actress Sunwoo Yong-yeo as a benefactor in her life and expressed gratitude, saying, "When I had a hard time she told me, 'Don't try to explain. You being well is what helps,' and thanks to that I was able to endure."
