Actor Yeon Jung-hoon said he would not stop his child if they chose to become an actor, and revealed that his wife Han Ga-in thinks differently.
On the 31st broadcast of the MBN·Channel S variety show 'Moo No Plan 4', Yeon Jung-hoon set out on a food tour of Incheon with Jun Hyun-moo and KwakTube.
That day Jun Hyun-moo asked, "Why don't you age?" as he questioned Yeon Jung-hoon about the secret to his youthful looks. He went on to show three photos from his past and quizzed him to "arrange them in chronological order." Yeon Jung-hoon said, "This is harder than an entrance exam," and fired a blunt remark, "Is this an elementary school student? He looks like a physical education teacher," which caused uproarious laughter.
When asked, "If your child said they wanted to try being an actor, what would you do?", Yeon Jung-hoon replied, "If they said they wanted to try, I don't think I would stop them." He said, "Even if it doesn't work out, that too can become a valuable asset," and explained his educational philosophy: "I think a variety of experiences themselves will help children."
But his wife Han Ga-in felt differently. Yeon Jung-hoon said, "My wife was somewhat opposed," revealing the couple's differing educational views.
He also recalled his own childhood. The son of actor Yeon Gyu-jin, he said, "My father strongly opposed me becoming an actor," and recalled, "He said, 'It doesn't work just with talent. You study well, so why do you want to be an actor?'"
He added, "My original dream was to be an automobile designer," and recounted his debut story: "I liked cars since I was young, but I went to the acting academy my father ran because of a friend, and I was cast by an agency and became an actor."
Meanwhile, Yeon Jung-hoon and Han Ga-in married in 2005 and have one son and one daughter. Their eldest daughter was recognized as in the top 1% of gifted children, and their younger son was also recognized as gifted, drawing attention.
