Cartoonist Heo Yeong-man revealed more than 50 volumes of comic diaries he personally kept and shared an update on his condition.
On the 30th, Heo Yeong-man posted on his social media, 50 volumes of comic diaries, following the small promise made long ago, I am delivering carefully made woodblock prints to the protagonists in the notebooks, along with several photos.
The released photos showed stacks densely filled with comic diaries that Heo Yeong-man had written by hand for years. Each black notebook had dates written on it, suggesting he had kept records consistently over a long period.
Another photo included a portrait he drew and a congratulatory message to commemorate author Han Kang's receipt of the Nobel Prize in Literature. He said, I cried when I read the article that author Han Kang received the Nobel Prize, and left an encouraging note saying, You are our hope and pride.
Heo Yeong-man also showed himself carving the figures from his comic diaries into woodblock prints, carefully packaging them and giving them as gifts. He said he was practicing a sentiment he had long harbored by delivering the prints he made himself to the protagonists in his notebooks.
