Disney+ 'A Shop for Killers season 2' Hyunri is drawing attention with an extraordinary presence.
Actress Hyunri is captivating viewers with an intense presence unlike anything seen before through Disney+'s original series 'A Shop for Killers season 2'.
In A Shop for Killers season 2, released on the 22nd (screenplay by Ji Hojin, directed by Lee Kwon, hereafter "A Shop for Killers 2"), Hyunri appears as the Head of Team of Babylon East Asia branch's mercenary team and the central pillar who leads operations on the scene, taking on the role of S-rank killer "Q," firmly driving the tension and scale of the entire drama.
From her first appearance, Hyunri captivated attention with fluent Japanese and a femme fatale–evoking intense aura. In a phone call with Jay (Okada Masaki), she revealed unwavering charisma with the brief line "I'm working, so don't bother me, just say what you need quickly," and when Jay asked if she remembered Jeong Jin-man (Lee Dongwook), her one-word reply "I remember" delivered a powerful impact. Hyunri completed the air of a cool yet composed character, raising expectations for the story to come.
Meanwhile, episodes 3 and 4 unfolded Q's backstory in earnest. The story revealed Q's reentanglement with Jeong Jin-man, whom she met during a past operation. In particular, disguised as a cleaner, Q did not lose composure even when captured by terrorists in a moment of crisis, and she amplified the drama's intrigue with unpredictable moves, such as showing her true skills in front of Jeong Jin-man.
This charisma was also vividly proven in action. Hyunri performed everything from Itto-ryu swordsmanship to high-intensity striking action herself, completing Q's unique action style. In a head-to-head confrontation with So Min-hye (Geum HanNah), she delivered spectacular action, and in the scene where, following Kusanagi's (Jung Yunha) orders, she first extends a hand to Veil (Jo Han-Sun), she added dimensionality to the character by emphasizing values that prioritize teamwork and trust. Through Q, Hyunri simultaneously showed the cold charisma of a killer and the humanity revealed in relationships, completing a new axis of A Shop for Killers 2.
In this way, Hyunri perfectly embodied Q, the Head of Team of Babylon East Asia branch's mercenary team and an S-ranked elite female killer specialized in assassination and espionage, presenting a new face that goes beyond her previously shown intelligent and refined image to combine strong charisma and unrestrained action. She naturally infused the character with language skills fluent in Korean, Japanese and English, leaving a deep impression as a key figure in the global organization.
Meanwhile, A Shop for Killers 2, in which Hyunri is active, is a stylish action series in which Jian, who became the new head of the mall Murder Help after a harsh handover, wages a full-fledged counterattack against the global power Babylon together with the returned Jin-man. Two episodes are released every Wednesday, and the eight-part series is available on Disney+.
A Shop for Killers 2 returned with a new season two years after season 1, and viewers were pleased as most of the original cast, including Lee Dongwook, Kim Hye Jun and Jo Han-Sun, appeared largely unchanged.
